Summary

 

A leading eSign and document storing company would like to allow better business continuity and zero RPO across regions and ensure it maintains a copy of every digital signature collected. Among its customers are large insurance and financial companies.
Critical customer data is stored in a MongoDB hosted on the Azure public cloud. Given their requirement to maintain a copy at all times of every digital signature collected, they require a Business Continuity (BC) solution providing near Zero RPO across different regions.
Such a business continuity setup would require maintaining two DR sites, and introduced quite a few challenges to implementing a DIY solution. Instead, they deployed Statehub.
By choosing Statehub, the customer was able to significantly reduce expenses, and save 58,000 USD per year. They were also able to reduce setup time from 7 weeks to only 1 week.
The customer is now able to assure business continuity with zero RPO even in the case where an entire Azure region fails, or even if the public cloud fails, and has done so with a significant saving in expenses and labor hours.

 

The Current Situation

 

A leading eSign and document storing company would like to allow better business continuity and zero RPO across regions and ensure it maintains a copy of every digital signature collected. Among its customers are large insurance and financial companies.
The ability to sign documents remotely became especially critical during COVID-19 when the company’s service allowed its customers smoother management of digital approval workflows, even
when working remotely.
To facilitate its commitment (SLA) to its customers, the company decided to setup two Disaster Recovery (DR) sites, such that they are protected from any kind of disaster:

  • In another cloud, in the same region (ie, protect against a cloud failure)
  • In another region, in the same cloud (ie, protect against a region failure)

They can either implement a DIY solution or deploy Statehub.

The first option is costly and time-consuming and involves a set of monthly costs in addition to the setup costs. With this setup and with Statehub’s managed service, the customer was able to significantly reduce expenses, and save $58,000 per year, and reduce labor time from 7 weeks to only 1 week.
